“I live right across from the accident, but didn’t hear anything until the first responders came. Apparently one man (possibly older looking, mob-ish) was chasing another man both in their cars. There was a car crash and the man being chased jumped out and was shot by the chaser. The shot man then ran for cover in a UPS truck parked in front of a mailing place. Again, these details were all overheard, so I don’t know the truth to it all, but there’s a lot of activity here and I thought you would want to know.”NYPD’s press office said it has not yet received any further information on the crime.

I was at Manna at 2:30 and I didn’t hear anything.
Ok.
Firstly, I basically live (and work!) above Manna, and I heard nothing.
Secondly, what is Neighborhoodr actually supposed to be? This is a blatant rip-off of the Gothamist piece… paraphrased (barely), but basically the exact same copy. Happy the “Community Moderator” linked back to the original piece, but why not just block quote the whole thing and attribute it honestly?
Finally, that “mailing place” is called “Tiger Lilly” and the bro in there will hook you up with stamps any time. Super chill.
I think Neighbrhoodr was started to combat the rise in Menacing in Williamsburg. This is why you’re local!
Is Allen vs. Roig-Franzia this year’s Crouch versus Peck?
Here are some venues you might want to try:

- BlackBook (Why not?)
The haven’t even posted about the night dude announcement. I figured they would be all over it like a tight tee shirt, jumping up and down slowly in the blurry setting sun
Can someone find the tumblr post where Carney argues against voting, so I can reblog it with “Should have pitched Slate”
You know, if you are carpet bombing your display ads like this, you would figure there was some leftover money to do customization. A play on this would have been apropos.
Apropos of nothing: an excellent intro to and translation of Sant’elia’s manifesto (with drawings — look at those fucking three point perspectives!)
Not pictured: Peter’s release form.
For an alternate take on the Vice party, check out the Titus Andronicus blog. As Sasha Frere-Jones says, “This man should cover ALL parties.” He experienced a high LOB.
I’m starting to thing the security thing was actually some perverted statement — what if Vice from 1994 had time traveled forward to find out what they begat? They would organize a party where all their progeny would be abused. Note, I’m not putting Titus Andronicus in the hipster don’t category.
This is just speculation on my part but at the time of the initial investment in the following companies who would have guessed the ultimate buyer:
-Flip Video (Cisco)
-Danger Research (Microsoft)
-Daily Candy (Comcast)
-Sling (Echostar)
The list goes on.
I like Bijan’s posts more often than not, but I think this is pretty disingenuous when the venture capital model is almost exclusively exit-dependent. When VCs stop touting exits as evidence of successes in their portfolios, you’ll stop seeing entrepreneurs with “exit” slides. So I’ll buy the “exits aren’t important” rationale when I see even one term sheet that creates incentives for long-term profit-sharing over a sale or IPO. (I’ve also never been through a full due diligence cycle where the investor didn’t ask the entrepreneur—even informally—about acquisition possibilities.)
Really? A set-top manufacturer buying Sling? A content distributor buying Daily Candy? Yeah, I can’t imagine anyone ever imaging shit like that.
